Abstract

The integration of digital technologies into mathematics education has become essential for promoting sustainable learning in the 21st century. This study examined the influence of digital transformation and innovative teaching strategies on mathematics education in secondary schools. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population consisted of mathematics teachers and senior secondary school students, while a sample of 200 students and 20 teachers were selected using stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured instrument titled Digital Transformation and Mathematics Education Questionnaire (DTMEQ). The instrument was validated by experts in mathematics education and measurement and evaluation, while reliability was determined using Cronbach Alpha with a coefficient of 0.78. Data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation to answer research questions. Findings revealed that digital technologies significantly improve students’ academic achievement, engagement, and interest in mathematics learning. However, challenges such as inadequate digital infrastructure, insufficient teacher training, and poor internet connectivity hinder effective implementation of digital transformation in mathematics education. The study concluded that integrating digital technologies into mathematics instruction enhances sustainable learning outcomes and prepares students with the competencies required for the digital age. The study recommends increased investment in digital infrastructure, continuous professional development for teachers, and the integration of technology-based instructional strategies in mathematics education.
