This study explored the effects of concept mapping strategy on the achievement of students in chemistry in secondary schools in Yenagoa metropolis, Bayelsa State. The study adopted aquasi- experimental research design. The sample size of the study consisted of 107 students who were purposively selected. One instrument, the Chemistry Achievement Test (CAT) was used to collect data, The CAT had a reliability of 0.89 using Kuder-Richardson Formula 21 (KR-21). Data was analysed using mean, standard deviation, and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). The findings of the study showed that students taught with the concept mapping strategy had significantly better achievement in chemistry than those taught with the conventional lecture method. The findings further showed that gender had no significant effect on the students’ achievement. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that concept mapping strategy be adopted to teach chemistry in secondary schools.
